New Specialized Community Living to Assist Autistic Adults opens in Central, SC

501(c)(3) Non-Profit is Accepting Applications for Residents with plans for a July Opening

Central, S.C. – Mary Sunshine House (MSH), an all-inclusive specialized residential community focused on assisting autistic adults, is accepting applications for its first 10 residents with plans for “move in” starting in July.

Mary Sunshine House provides a much-needed program that facilitates residential, educational, recreational, and well-being amenities to autistic adults in a specialized living community in a recently renovated duplex complex adjacent to the campus of Southern Wesleyan University. Lifestyle Coaches will oversee all activities that assist the residents and encourage them to develop to their full potential.

“This is an incredibly unique opportunity for adults with autism to engage in a community that is safe and supports the enrichment of all the residents with a variety of activities and amenities” said Lori Pendergraph, founder, and President of the Board.

Renovations and updates to the first 10 apartments have been completed in a multi-phased plan to eventually accommodate 45 future residents. All the available apartments have two bedrooms with one bathroom and boast brand new appliances, bathroom fixtures, flooring and kitchens. Future residents must be at least 22 years of age or older and have the capability and desire to live independently and have been diagnosed with a neurological impairment such as autism spectrum disorder, developmental disability, attention deficit disorder, or pervasive developmental disorder not otherwise specified.

“We are excited to open and look forward to receiving applications for future residents and realize that the 10 apartments we have available will go fast. We are encouraging people to reach out with their questions, and don’t hesitate if this is of interest” says Brian Vickers, MSH Executive Director.
