Applicants must have a diagnosis of the autism spectrum disorder and/or intellectual disabilities. Full criteria for admission is listed below.

Because space is limited, Mary Sunshine House may institute a waiting list for prospective residents, which will be evaluated regularly.

Admission procedures are designed to ensure a prospective program participant receives a full evaluation with open communication between MSH staff and the family. To begin the application process, submit an inquiry.

  • Participants must have a diagnosis on the autism spectrum disorder and/or intellectual disability.
  • Participants must be nineteen (19) years of age or older.
  • Participants must have the capability of independent living.

To begin the admissions process, submit an online inquiry or email info@marysunshinehouse.org. A representative of Mary Sunshine House will contact you to inform you about MSH, answer any questions that you may have, and schedule a time and date for a tour.

Prospective families are welcomed to tour MSH and meet with the Executive Director and team to discuss program planning and community living. At this point, the future resident will be invited to complete a formal application, including all required documents (i.e., psych evaluation, recent medical report, current physical exam, and 3 letters of recommendation). There is a $75.00 non-refundable application fee.

After receiving the application and all the required documents, a screening assessment will be scheduled and conducted to determine the potential resident’s admission at MSH.

The potential resident information will be discussed before an admission committee to determine admission of the potential resident.

The final steps are to complete the lease agreement for the apartment unit and the program agreement, which states the future MSH resident’s intent and commitment to participate in our program.

The admission process generally takes about four weeks.
